Boomer Diva Nation in the DARK this Holiday Season

The dark is coming to light within Boomer Diva Nation this holiday season. The women who make up this online community for baby boomer women have started their first annual D.A.R.K. campaign. BDN Founder Beverly Mahone says D.A.R.K. stands for Doing Acts of Random Kindness. “We thought it would be a great idea to extend kind gestures beyond our online community by reaching out to others in our own individual cities and towns,” according to Mahone.

So far, the DARK Campaign has included donations to daycare providers and a homeless ministry as well as providing free business services to customers. One member spent an entire day calling all of her customers, clients and friends just to say hello and thank them for their business. “We’ve also had members purchase items for complete strangers,” Mahone says, “and sometimes people just ask us to lift them or loved ones up in prayer.”

Members of Boomer Diva Nation are quick to point out that the purpose for doing the random acts of kindness is not for publicity. Joyce Mason, who joined BDN a few months ago says several times she’s helped friends out with gifts of time or treasure in hard times. “There is nothing I do more willingly with less thought of return, because to me, it's the kind of act that is the essence of friendship and family.”
